Sketch to product

Sketch to image, with the product details in view.

Bring a drawing, material samples and a product direction together. Specify the silhouette and design decisions that should survive the move from a sketch to a product image.

What to bring

Give each reference one job.

Product

The sketch or drawing that defines the silhouette.

Style

Material, finish and color samples with labels.

Background

A presentation or lighting reference for the concept.

A ready-to-edit starting point

Your workflow brief.

This brief opens with the reference board. Adjust it for your actual images and intended output.

Sketch-to-product brief: use the sketch for silhouette, proportions and component placement. Use material references only for finish and texture. Keep the named design details and separate concept exploration from a manufacturing specification.

Tell the drawing what to control

A sketch may define overall form, a mechanical detail or only the mood of an idea. Mark the proportions, components and edges that should remain fixed. If a drawn line is a seam rather than a shadow, make that explicit in the brief.

  • Start with a legible sketch or a clean scan.
  • Identify dimensions that are intentional and details still open to exploration.
  • Keep alternate silhouettes in separate references rather than one ambiguous sheet.

Attach finishes without changing the design

A material reference describes surface appearance. It should not quietly change the shape of the product in the drawing. Pair a labeled finish swatch with a short note about where it applies, then distinguish accent materials from the main body.

  • Name the material and where it belongs on the product.
  • Separate shape references from color and lighting references.
  • Keep multiple finish options organized on a comparison board.

Present a concept at the right level of certainty

Use the drawing as the product reference and assign supporting images to material or style roles. Generate a concept with Seedream 5 Pro or Nano Banana, compare it with the sketch and add the saved image to your presentation canvas. A generated concept is not a CAD model, dimensional drawing or manufacturing specification.

  • Keep the source sketch next to the concept direction.
  • Add notes for important seams, closures or proportions.
  • Use the shared canvas to compare the generated concept with the source sketch.

Workflow questions

Sketch to product questions

Does this preview render a sketch automatically?

Yes. Add a PNG, JPG or WebP sketch and optional material references, then request a product concept in Generate. Choose Seedream 5 Pro or Nano Banana; review proportions and component placement against the original.

Which drawing files can I upload?

Upload a PNG, JPG or WebP image. Export a drawing from your design application into one of those formats before adding it.

Can I use the exported board for manufacturing?

Use it to communicate visual direction. It is not a CAD model, dimensional drawing or production specification.

One shared workspace

Turn a reference into a clear direction.

Bring your images, arrange the canvas and share the next step.

Open the editor preview Generate with Seedream 5 Pro or Nano Banana, then edit and export. Shared preview allowance applies.
