How Many Reference Images Does Krea 3 Support in 2026?

On krea3.site, Krea 3 Berry accepts up to 8 reference images in one generation. A project can hold 12 reference slots, but those extra slots do not raise the generation limit. With no references, the editor creates a text-to-image request. With 1–8, it creates a reference edit. If the active board contains more than 8, generation stops until you remove the extras; it never silently drops an image.

The two limits apply to different parts of your work.

Think of the reference board as preparation space and the generation request as a selected set of inputs. A larger board helps you collect alternatives. It does not mean the image model will receive every candidate. The Krea 3 Berry image mode uses the active reference board, so keep that board within the model limit when you are ready to submit.

Different products and provider routes can expose different limits. These numbers describe this editor’s Krea 3 Berry route; other enabled models have their own limits. Do not apply an older four-reference listing or a limit from another Krea service to this project.

Start with fewer references and give each one a job.

For a product scene, two references are often a clearer starting brief than eight overlapping photographs: one sharp product view and one material or setting. Add an alternate product angle when it shows a detail the first image cannot explain. A reference role helps organize the brief; it is not a pixel mask or a guarantee that the model will preserve identity.

  1. Put the main product or subject first.
  2. Use a separate source for the setting, lighting or material.
  3. Keep the board order stable while writing your prompt.
  4. Name what each image contributes and which details need review.

For a packaging job, the product scene workflow provides a focused checklist. For a room and fabric swatch, use interior material replacement.

Eight inputs do not mean eight credits.

Credits depend on output dimensions and the number and processed size of the reference images. A reference-free 1024 × 1024 request currently uses 3 credits; a reference-free 2048 × 2048 request uses 10. Adding images changes that calculation. Read the quote in Generate after choosing the final references and size, before confirming.

Uploading, arranging a board and editing the canvas are free. AI generation requires a signed-in account and available credits. New eligible Google accounts receive a small one-time signup gift; additional credits are sold in packs. The credit guide explains the difference between a credit reservation, a completed generation and a returned reservation.

When the board is over the limit, edit the board first.

A project with 9–12 references can still be saved, shared and edited. It cannot send all of those images in one Krea 3 request. Remove the unnecessary reference entries until eight or fewer remain. Removing an entry is not the same as deleting an uploaded source asset or a canvas layer.

Review the quote again after changing the board. If a previous generation is still pending, check that existing request rather than pressing Generate again. A new submission is a separate paid task, even when its inputs look similar.

Frequently asked questions (2026)

Can I send all 12 project references to Krea 3?

No. Krea 3 Berry accepts at most 8 references per generation. Other engines have their own limits. A project can retain 12 slots for preparation, but an over-limit board must be reduced before generation.

Does every reference cost one credit?

No. Output dimensions and reference count and processed size determine the quote. The editor shows the cost before you confirm.

Will the editor automatically select the best eight?

No. It blocks the over-limit request. You decide which reference entries to remove; none are silently discarded.

Does a reference lock my product or face exactly?

No. References guide the result. Inspect faces, labels, geometry and materials against the source before using the image.

Bring your references into one workspace.

Prepare the canvas for free. Sign in to use available credits, including an eligible one-time signup gift. Review the quote before confirming.
